About The Comics Archive
An independent editorial archive of comics and graphic novels worth finding.
What this is
The Comics Archive is a reader’s guide to 300 ranked comics and graphic novels, arranged in three collections: the 100 Greatest Comics, the 100 Greatest Science Fiction Comics and the 100 Greatest Adventure & Thriller Comics. Each title has its own page with an overview, why it matters, its themes and its art, and a short list of what to read next.
How the rankings work
The rankings are editorial judgment, not an absolute or universally agreed canon. They weigh artistic achievement, narrative excellence, historical significance and lasting influence. The collections exclude manga, and the adventure collection also leaves out superhero comics and focuses on works available in English.
Independent and unaffiliated
This site is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any publisher, creator or rights holder, and it is not connected to any video channel or other site with a similar name.
All comic artwork, characters, titles and associated trademarks remain the property of their respective rights holders. Covers appear here to identify the works under discussion. The illustrations on the home and collection pages are original artwork made for this site.
