Newburn
Written by Chip Zdarsky. Art by Jacob Phillips.
A detective serves rival crime families without truly belonging to any of them.
Overview
Easton Newburn investigates cases for organized-crime clients whose interests rarely align. Zdarsky and Phillips launched the Image series in 2021 with a killing that tests the boundaries of Newburn’s neutrality.
Why It Matters
The premise turns every solution into a negotiation: solving a case may disturb the balance that makes his work possible.
Genre & Themes
Mob procedural and private-eye noir.
Art & Visual Identity
Jacob Phillips’s restrained expressions and city-night color make the conversations as tense as the violence.
