Ranked No. 9 of 100 · 1990 · Dupuis / Belgium

International adventure, corporate espionage, conspiracy

A reluctant young billionaire must survive the empire he has inherited.

Overview

At twenty-six, Largo Winch inherits a huge financial group. His independence clashes with the schemes of bankers, rivals and criminals who see the inheritance as an opportunity. The series began in comics in 1990 with Van Hamme and Francq; later writers continued it.

Why It Matters

The central contradiction gives the adventures their engine: a man suspicious of power must wield an immense amount of it. Each conspiracy tests the possibility of acting ethically inside a vast corporation.

Genre & Themes

International thriller and corporate intrigue drive the series. Travel and action connect financial decisions to their consequences on the ground.

Art & Visual Identity

Francq’s precise line keeps complex locations and fast action clear. Offices, vehicles and city views provide a credible contemporary stage for the larger-than-life plots.
